Injectables

Cosmetic injectables are typically broken up into two categories: neuromodulators and dermal fillers. In addition to these two major categories, we also offer Sculptra, Kybella, PDO threads, and PRP/PRF injections.

Neuromodulators relax muscles and include Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomin. They are used to decrease the effects of contracting muscles, and in turn, effectively reduce the development of wrinkles which are caused by repetitive muscle contraction.

Fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Radiesse are used to add volume to areas under the skin that suffer from volume loss and/or deficiency.

Millions of women and men have undergone these quick and painless procedures with proven results. You get real, immediately noticeable results without surgery and no recovery time! Our injectables and fillers are approved for use in almost every area of the face and have months of lasting results.

We offer a full range of treatment options. Dr. Manning will devise a personalized treatment plan based on a variety of factors, including your goals, an evaluation of your physical form, and your budget.  She will thoroughly assess your anatomy, and make recommendations for improvement at that time.

Dr. Manning’s philosophy favors gradual, incremental changes that appear natural and beautiful. Most injectable sessions last 10-20 minutes, although some visits may take as long as 45 minutes if multiple injectables are used for a more comprehensive result.  Your skin may be numbed prior to treatment, so you will feel completely comfortable the whole time.

Although bruising is rarely an issue, thanks to our doctors’ advanced injectable techniques, make sure to avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, or Motrin for at least 3 days before the procedure to further minimize the possibility of visible bruising.

NEUROMODULATORS (BOTOX/DYSPORT/XEOMIN/JEUVEAU)

Injected into facial muscles to treat wrinkles that are caused by the movement of those muscles. Most common areas neurotoxins are used:

  • Frown lines – between the brows and on the forehead

  • Crow’s feet – wrinkles around the eye area

  • Lift the eyebrow for a more defined arch

  • Fine lines around the mouth

  • Lift the corners of the mouth

  • Improve a gummy smile

  • Decrease neck muscle pulling which creates jowls

  • Masseter muscles to create a more V-shaped facial structure and to help TMJ symptoms

How many treatments are required?

1 treatment with results settling in 3-5 days and maximum effect at 14 days.

Is there any downtime?

There is a possible chance of bruising at the injection site and some patients can experience a slight headache.

Is maintenance required?

We recommend getting your neurotoxin injections every 3-4 months, however, with regular upkeep, the time between treatments tends to get a little longer.

DERMAL FILLERS (JUVEDERM/RESTYLANE)

Dermal Fillers are hyaluronic acid gels that add volume to areas that have a volume deficiency and result in skin fullness to give a more youthful appearance. Most common areas where filler is used:

  • Cheeks

  • Lips

  • Under Eyes

  • Tear Troughs

  • Jawline

  • Vertical Lip Lines

  • Facial Wrinkles

  • Nasolabial Folds – commonly known as “smile lines” or “laugh lines” that run from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth

  • Marionette Lines – lines from the corners of your mouth that run toward your chin

How many treatments are required?

1 treatment with results immediately.

Is there any downtime?

Some minor swelling and bruising can be expected but should resolve within a couple of days. To help prevent bruising, we recommend taking an Arnica supplement for about a week prior to your appointment.

Is maintenance required?

We recommend having dermal filler every 6-12 months or on an as-needed basis.  Some fillers last up to 2 years.  The maintenance varies depending on the area that is being treated.

PDO THREADS

PDO threads are surgical sutures that have been used safely for decades in treating various medical and surgical issues. They are a revolutionary treatment modality that was introduced into the world of aesthetics over the last decade. Here are a few things you should know about PDO threads. First, it mechanically results in instant skin lifting. Second, it contracts fat tissue which results in instant skin tightening. Third, it promotes collagen production and neovascularization to renew your skin at the cellular level. All of this works together to give you enhanced skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and more elastic skin.

Before treatment starts, we will apply a topical numbing agent to the treatment site. The needle used during this treatment is so fine it will not cause any pain. However, we provide anesthesia to ensure you feel no discomfort during the treatment.  Once the anesthetic has taken effect, your treatment will begin. The PDO threads are inserted via blunt-tip needles, called cannulas, or sharp-tipped needles. Once inserted into the appropriate layer of skin, they act as anchors as the skin is lifted upwards. Then, the excess threads are cut off.

Because a PDO thread lift is so versatile, it can treat virtually any area of the face. These include the:

  • Neck

  • Jowls

  • Jawline

  • Nasolabial Folds

  • Crow’s Feet

  • Undereye

  • Eyebrows

  • Cheeks

  • Marionette Lines

The cheeks and the lower face/neck region are the most commonly treated areas. The cheeks and lower face are great regions to treat because they lend themselves so well to synergistic skin lifting treatments like noninvasive radiofrequency with our Evoke treatments.

How many treatments are required?

1 treatment with results immediately, but continue to improve over the next 2-3 months.

Is there any down time?

Some swelling and bruising can occur, but you should be able to resume the majority of normal activities right away. To help prevent bruising, we recommend taking an Arnica supplement for 10-14 days prior to your appointment.

Additionally, you should hold off on any dental treatments for the first two weeks after your PDO thread lift. Holding your mouth open for an excessive period of time can affect the results of your treatment.

Is maintenance required?

We recommend getting your non-surgical facelift every 6-12 months, with small collagen threads (no downtime) every 2-3 months as maintenance.

PRP/PRF INJECTIONS

Platelet Rich Plasma (“PRP”) & Platelet Rich Fibrin (“PRF”) are made by drawing a small amount of blood and centrifuging it to separate the plasma from other blood components.  The isolated plasma is rich in your stem cells and growth factors which signal your skin’s healing and regenerative mechanisms to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

PRP can be used in a variety of ways. Most commonly, PRP can be injected directly into the scalp to treat hair thinning and loss in both male and female patients.  Injectable PRP/PRF can also be used in combination with dermal fillers to help restore volume in facial areas.

PRP is also used as a topical treatment with skin rejuvenation treatments such as Microneedling & Morpheus 8. These treatments create micro-channels in the superficial layers of the skin, allowing the PRP to treat at deeper levels boosting collagen production and treating textural concerns such as acne scarring, skin laxity, and fine lines.

Known growth factor effects:

  • Regulation of cell growth

  • Promotes production of new blood vessels

  • Promotes tissue repair after injury

  • Promotes collagen growth

  • Induces healthy cell production

  • Optimizes conditions for healing and generation of new skin

How many treatments are required?

PRF injections are typically done in 1 treatment with some noticeable change immediately, but continuing to settle in over the next 6-12 weeks.

PRP hair restoration is done over 6 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Is there any down time?

Some minor swelling and bruising is to be expected, but should resolve within a couple days. To help prevent bruising, we recommend taking an Arnica supplement for 1 week prior to your appointment.

Is maintenance required?

Think of PRP/PRF injections as a natural alternative to dermal filler. We recommend 1 treatment every 6-12 months or on an as-needed basis.

PRP hair restoration may require treatment on a 6-12 month basis.

KYBELLA

The active ingredient in KYBELLA is synthetic deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

Dr. Manning is now also injecting Kybella in places such as the armpits, inner thighs, and in “bra fat”. If you have fat in areas that you want to address, set up a consultation for all the details.

How many treatments are required?

Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient, however, most patients need 4-6 treatments done at least 4 weeks apart.  Dr. Manning will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals.

Is there any downtime?

There is a significant amount of swelling expected in the treatment area that lasts for about 2 weeks. On average there is typically about 1 week of “social down time”.

Is maintenance required?

No. Once the fat cells are destroyed, they will no longer store or accumulate fat, and no further treatment will be necessary.
